XXIII Congress of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC) held in Zaragoza

Within the framework of the XXIII Congress of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC) being held in Zaragoza, which draws the finest professionals in the field, a pre-congress session open to the general public is being offered in collaboration with Fundación Ibercaja. During this session, which will take place at Fundación Ibercaja Patio de la Infanta, with the aim of bringing the latest advances in research and clinical practice to a wider audience, leading experts will discuss the future of neurosurgery from an accessible, outreach-oriented perspective.

PRE-CONGRESS SESSION REGISTRATION FORM

Free admission

The first session, “From Research to Treatment”, will explore cutting-edge topics such as epigenetics and its applications in brain surgery, virtual biopsy, fluorescence-guided surgery techniques, and current research on brain metastasis. It will showcase the steps being taken in laboratories to translate scientific discoveries into clinical solutions.

In parallel, two sessions aimed at patients, family members, and the interested public will be held. In the cerebral neurosurgery section, presentations will cover the limits and most recent advances in brain surgery, the current and future use of brain implants, the importance of safety in the operating room for both patients and healthcare staff, and the fundamental role of patient associations — all with a forward-looking vision of what brain surgery could achieve in the coming years. Meanwhile, the spinal neurosurgery section will offer a review of the evolution of spinal surgery, from its beginnings to the most innovative techniques, highlighting the relevance of technology, safety in surgical interventions, and the increasingly active role that the patient plays in his or her own care process.

This session offers the opportunity to learn first-hand how research and clinical practice work together to improve the quality of life of patients. In addition, participants will discuss the challenges posed by technology, the importance of safety in the hospital setting, and the ways in which the patient’s informed participation can make a difference in therapeutic outcomes. An essential gathering for anyone wishing to understand where neurosurgery is heading and the keys that will shape its future.
